What should you look for in a laser hair removal clinic?
Choosing a clinic is about more than finding the lowest price. Ask which device is being used, whether your skin and hair type are suitable, how patch testing is handled, what training the practitioner has received, what the treatment course is likely to involve and how the clinic deals with aftercare or unexpected reactions.
The equipment used at 3D Lipo London
We use the 3D Trilogyice professional laser platform. 3D Aesthetics describes Trilogyice as a triple-wavelength system combining Alexandrite, Diode and Nd:YAG technology, with contact cooling and in-motion scanning. The manufacturer specifies it for Fitzpatrick skin types 1–5 and most body areas.
See the current manufacturer specification for 3D Trilogyice.
Realistic expectations matter
Laser hair removal is better described as long-term hair reduction than as a promise of permanent, completely hair-free skin. Hair grows in cycles, so a course is normally required, and hormonal changes or other factors can lead to later regrowth. The amount of reduction and the need for maintenance differ from person to person.
Skin tone and hair type
Suitability depends on the combination of skin tone, hair colour, hair thickness, the treatment area, recent sun exposure and medical history. The Trilogyice manufacturer specifies the platform for skin types 1–5. Very light, grey, white or very fine hair may respond poorly because there is less pigment for the laser to target.

Consultation and patch testing
Before beginning a course, we review the treatment area, skin and hair characteristics, relevant health history and medication. A patch test helps assess the skin response and appropriate settings. A £30 booking deposit secures the consultation. The deposit is fully redeemable against treatment and refundable after you attend if you decide not to proceed. Please give at least 72 hours' notice to cancel or reschedule. A no-show loses the £30 deposit and rebooking requires a new £30 deposit. Late arrival may shorten the appointment.
Hormonal hair growth and PCOS
Conditions such as PCOS can influence facial and body hair growth. Laser hair removal does not diagnose or treat the underlying hormonal condition, but it may be considered for suitable unwanted hair. If you have unexplained or changing hair growth, or a known hormonal condition, tell us during consultation and continue any medical care with your GP or appropriate clinician.
Laser hair removal for different clients and areas
We welcome clients of different genders and assess the treatment area rather than making assumptions based on gender. Common areas include the upper lip and chin, underarms, bikini area, arms, legs, chest, abdomen, back, shoulders, beard line and neck. Age eligibility and consent requirements are confirmed before booking.

Safety points worth checking
- Tell the practitioner about all medication and supplements; do not stop prescribed medication without speaking to the prescriber.
- Recent tanning or sun exposure can affect suitability and settings.
- Laser hair removal is generally deferred during pregnancy because safety evidence is limited.
- Laser should not be fired directly over tattoo pigment.
- Protective eyewear and appropriate device settings are important parts of treatment safety.
- Temporary redness, warmth or follicular swelling can occur; burns or pigment changes are possible risks and should be discussed before treatment.
Professional treatment versus home-use devices
Home-use IPL and light-based devices are not identical to a professional clinic laser. They generally operate at lower outputs and are designed for consumer use. That does not mean every home device is ineffective, but the technology, settings, supervision and suitability assessment differ from professional treatment.
Why fine or light hair needs careful assessment
Laser relies on pigment in the hair to absorb energy. Fine, white, grey, very fair or low-pigment hair may not be a good target. We therefore do not promise that every type of “peach fuzz” or vellus hair can be successfully treated.

Questions to ask any laser clinic before booking
- What exact laser or light-based device will be used?
- Is the device suitable for my skin type and hair colour?
- Will I have a consultation and patch test first?
- What result is realistic for my treatment area?
- What are the main side effects and contraindications?
- What is included in the quoted price?
- What happens if my skin reacts unexpectedly?
Those questions are more useful than choosing a clinic based on slogans such as “permanent”, “painless” or a guaranteed percentage reduction.

What affects a laser-hair-removal plan
Laser hair removal normally requires a course because hairs are treated most effectively at particular stages of the growth cycle. Hair colour and thickness, skin tone, treatment area, recent sun exposure and relevant medication all affect planning, and maintenance may be needed over time.
A patch test and consultation help confirm suitability and settings. See Laser Hair Removal London for clinic-specific treatment information and current prices.
