Fat Freezing and Cavitation: Can They Be Combined?

Fat freezing and ultrasound cavitation can both be used for non-surgical body contouring, but they are not the same treatment and they do not need to be combined for every client. The right approach depends on the type of concern, the amount and location of pinchable subcutaneous fat, skin quality and treatment history.
Fat freezing vs cavitation: what is the difference?
Fat freezing (cryolipolysis) uses controlled cooling to target suitable localised subcutaneous fat. At 3D Lipo London, the primary machine reference across our fat-freezing information is the Sculpt Pro Cryo Quattro.
Ultrasound cavitation uses ultrasound energy as a different body-contouring approach. It is not cryolipolysis, and it should not be described as if it works by freezing fat cells.
Can fat freezing and cavitation be combined?
They can form part of the same wider body-contouring plan for a suitable client, but that does not mean both treatments should automatically be used on the same area or at the same appointment. The treatment sequence and timing should be decided after consultation, taking account of the area being treated, previous treatment, medical history and the goal of the plan.
Which treatment may suit which goal?
- Localised pinchable fat: fat freezing may be considered where the applicator can safely and effectively treat the area.
- Body-contouring / inch-loss programme: cavitation may be considered as a separate non-surgical option.
- Loose-looking skin: radio-frequency skin tightening may be more relevant than adding another fat-reduction treatment.

How much do fat freezing and cavitation cost?
We use our Prices page as the source for treatment pricing. Current listed fat-freezing prices start at £139 for chin, £159 for one large applicator and £259 for two large applicators. Current listed cavitation pricing is £79 for a single session and £599 for eight sessions. Any combination package should only be quoted exactly as it appears on the prices page.
Why consultation matters before combining treatments
More treatment is not automatically better treatment. A consultation helps distinguish subcutaneous fat from loose skin, cellulite, abdominal-wall concerns and other issues that may change the plan.
Consultation booking: An in-person consultation requires a £30 booking deposit. The deposit is fully redeemable against treatment and refundable after you attend if you decide not to proceed. Please give at least 72 hours' notice to cancel or reschedule. A no-show loses the £30 deposit and rebooking requires a new £30 deposit. Late arrival may shorten the appointment.
Does combining cavitation with fat freezing improve results?
Not necessarily. More treatment is not automatically better treatment. A 2020 pilot study compared cryolipolysis with cryolipolysis plus ultrasound cavitation and found no statistically significant advantage for the combination over cryolipolysis alone in the measured anthropometric outcomes. This does not prove that no individual can ever benefit from a wider multi-treatment plan, but it is a good reason not to sell a combination as automatically superior.
3D Lipo London does not currently list a combined Cavitation + Fat Freezing package. If both technologies are suitable, the treatment plan is discussed during consultation.

Is cavitation the same as fat freezing?
No. Fat freezing uses controlled cooling; cavitation uses ultrasound technology. They are separate treatments with different mechanisms.
Do I need both treatments?
Not necessarily. A treatment plan should be based on the actual concern and suitability rather than combining technologies automatically.
Can cavitation be used immediately after fat freezing?
There is no single timetable that should be applied to every client. Timing should be decided after assessment and according to the treatment plan rather than assumed from generic internet advice.
Which is better for weight loss?
Neither treatment is a weight-loss treatment. They are body-contouring treatments for selected localised concerns.
